AUGUST HIGHLIGHTS
Well – August was a bit of a wash out on the weather front, eh? But thankfully (and I always like to say thanks) it wasn’t a wash out on the work front. Lots of on-hold voicing, freelance cover writing for my buddies in Ireland, demos, audio production, copywriting – a smorgasbord of all sorts.
Want some highlights?
Go on then…
I often get asked to do demos for scripts I’ve written and whilst some may find that’s a little bit above and beyond, my view is that it’s all part of the process. Words on a page rarely live up to the audio – and considering that’s what a client is ultimately buying, I think they deserve to know what it’ll sound like. Sometimes though, there’s a bit of budget to get it done proper – and with the talented Kenny Blythe and Gayanne Potter, it turned out great.
Always great to work with big brands. In readiness for Fresher’s Weeks up and down the land (those WERE the days!), it was great to be asked again to work on VKs Spotify campaign. Voiced by the fabulous Luci Fish, with sound design from my good brother Howard at Engine7, this one will be gracing the playlists of Student Spotifiers through September.
From the ‘post-A-Level-off-to-uni’ types, to the ‘post-GCSEs-what-am-I-going-to-do-with-my-life’ throng. I’ve worked closely with Derby College for a number of years, via Steve Mayell at Adwise (guru, mentor and recovering-Wordler) – and these ‘Not Too Late’ messages always do a great job in encouraging last minute intake. Jack Oddie, as always, is such a relatable, young sounding, genuine voice who always does a cracking job on these.
What a month...
Looking ahead – now it may only be the very start of September, but there’s already signs of businesses getting things in place for the upcoming Autumn and Winter seasons. Don’t necessarily feel that it’s apt to drop the C-bomb right now…but Christmas scripts have already been written and produced – and before then, there’s tons of opportunities out there for Halloween and Bonfire Night. I’ve got plenty of scripts, tracks, ideas and demos you can access – so just reach out and shout for owt! I’ve a feeling, if and when I get my act together, I’ll be sending out emails touting for graft – but feel free to email me if you want to properly force me into proaction!
